Findings

Axial, Coronal PDFS & T1, Sagittal T1 weighted MR images of wrist reveal undisplaced fracture of pisiform bone with adjacent marrow edema

Diagnosis

Pisiform fracture

Summary

Pisiform Fractures are rare carpal fractures associated with falls on an outstretched hand. Very rarely the pisiform may be dislocated without fracture and displaced radially. Search for pisiform fracture should be done in all patients presenting with ulnar sided pain following fall. Treatment is primarily nonoperative with painful nonunions requiring surgical excision.
