Findings
Figures 1 and 2 are coronal MIP images while figure 3 is coronal 3D MRP that show bilateral duplicated collecting systems with duplication of the bilateral ureters. Bilateral ureters unite in their distal ends to drain into the urinary bladder(4). Right lower moiety shows moderate hydronephrosis with abrupt narrowing at the level of right pelvi-ureteric junction.
Diagnosis
Bilateral duplicated collecting systems with pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction of right lower moiety.
Summary
Pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction can be seen in about 2% of cases of duplicated collecting systems. It is seen commonly involving the lower moieties and rarely in upper moieties. Apart from pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction, insertion of the ureters and presence/absence of ureterocoele are common associations that should be looked for in cases of duplicated collecting systems.
