27 year old male patient with right sided chest pain

Findings
1. Chest Radiograph demonstrates defined opacity involving the right mid and lower zones that obscures the right cardiac margins. Suspicious hepatomegaly also noted. Axial CECT Chest image(2) shows a well-defined cystic lesion involving the middle lobe with few thin septations. The sections of upper abdomen(2 and 3) show hypodense septated lesions with peripherally arranged cystic components
Diagnosis
Pulmonary and liver hydatid cysts
Summary
The lung is the second most common site of involvement with Echinococcus granulosus in adults after the liver (10-30% of cases), and the most common site in children. The coexistence of liver and lung disease is present in only 6% of patients. In young patients, diagnosis of pulmonary hydatid should be considered as a differential in chest masses.
