Findings
- Enlarged, expanded right mandibular condyle with asymmetrical elongation of right sided neck, ramus, associated facial asymmetry and deviation of chin toward left side.
- Flattening of right mandibular condyle, shallow glenoid fossa and articular surface irregularity involving mandibular and temporal aspects of right temporomandibular joint likely represent osteoarthritis of right temporomandibular joint.
Diagnosis
Unilateral mandibular condylar hyperplasia.
Summary
Mandibular condylar hyperplasia usually occur unilaterally causing progressive facial asymmetry. It can be associated with dental malocclusion and osteoarthritis of right temporomandibular joint. Patients are usually treated with condylectomy on the affected side.
